Margarita Grigoryan

Margarita Grigoryan is a prominent Armenian media executive and journalist whose career spans more than 30 years across television, radio, print media, public administration, and academia. Widely recognized for her contribution to the development of Armenia’s modern media landscape, she has combined editorial expertise, strategic leadership, and academic insight throughout her professional journey.

Grigoryan began her career in journalism in the early 1990s, contributing to leading Armenian newspapers and the Armenpress news agency while still a student. In 1993, she joined Public Radio of Armenia, where she worked as an editor and later as a producer and chief editor of socio-political programming. Her early work was marked by a strong focus on public affairs, social issues, and political analysis during a formative period in Armenia’s post-independence media environment.

In 1994, she transitioned to television, joining the State TV and Radio Company of Armenia and later becoming a journalist for the “Lraber” news program on Public Television. In this role, she covered the activities of the Supreme Council and produced analytical reports on political and economic developments. Her authorial reporting style and ability to contextualize complex national issues quickly distinguished her as a leading voice in Armenian broadcast journalism.

Alongside her broadcasting work, Grigoryan advanced in print media, becoming Editor-in-Chief of Rating magazine and later editor of Varkanish, which was notable as Armenia’s first full-color magazine. Her work in print contributed to elevating editorial standards and introducing new formats and visual approaches in Armenian publishing.

In parallel with her media career, Grigoryan made significant contributions to academia. She joined the Faculty of Journalism at Yerevan State University in 1999, where she taught for over a decade. She holds a PhD in Philology, with her research focusing on media audience studies—an area that informed both her academic and professional work in media strategy and content development.

Her leadership trajectory expanded in the 2000s, when she held senior management roles in both the public and private sectors. At the Electric Networks of Armenia, she served as Head of Marketing and Communications and later as Administrative and Social Affairs Director, overseeing large-scale communication strategies and corporate social initiatives. She also briefly led the Information Service of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport.

Returning to television, Grigoryan became General Producer at Armenia TV (2009–2013), where she played a central role in content development and production strategy. She later served as Executive Director of the Public Television Company of Armenia (2013–2020), leading one of the country’s most influential broadcasting institutions through a period of transformation and modernization.

In 2020, she founded ColLABorate LTD and was appointed CEO of Fast Media. Under her leadership, Fast Media launched Fast Media TV in 2021, Armenia’s first dedicated sports television channel, significantly expanding the country’s specialized broadcasting sector and introducing new standards in sports media coverage.

In 2025, Grigoryan was appointed Chairman of the Audiovisual Media Industry Committee, further solidifying her role as a key figure in shaping media policy and industry development in Armenia.

She holds an Executive MBA from the University of York, as well as multiple degrees in public administration and journalism, including a Master of Public Administration and a PhD in Philology from Yerevan State University, and an additional MPA from the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia.
